This column shows the number of licenses that were not applied toward underlying licenses. These licenses typically provide access to a specific version (for example, SharePoint Server 2010 or Exchange Server 2007) and do not guarantee the floating version rights provided by the Upgrade with Maintenance class of license. Some titles may be counted in this column if your inventory includes underlying base licenses that were purchased outside the Volume Licensing channel (such as OEM or retail). If non-Volume Licensing numbers are included in this column, you can add this column total to the Effective Volume Licenses column total (up to the amount for which proof of underlying licenses exists).
