If you have Edge Transport servers in your organization, you can choose to configure the Edge Transport servers to handle message delivery and connect with the EOP service in your %BRAND_OFFICE_365_SHORT% organization. In this configuration, a Receive connector is configured on your on-premises Edge Transport servers to accept secure inbound connections from the EOP service in your %BRAND_OFFICE_365_SHORT% organization. Additionally, a Send connector is configured on your on-premises Edge Transport servers to initiate outbound connections to the EOP service in your %BRAND_OFFICE_365_SHORT% organization. Together, these two connectors help to enable secure bi-directional mail transport between the on-premises %BRAND_EXCHANGE_ONLINE_SHORT% servers and %BRAND_EXCHANGE_ONLINE_SHORT% Online.
