When forms-based authentication is enabled on an Outlook Web Access virtual directory, Basic authentication needs to be enabled on the virtual directory, and no other authentication method can be enabled. Basic authentication must be enabled because forms-based authentication gives user credentials to Internet Information Services via the Basic authentication header. To change this setting, first disable forms-based authentication.
