Replicating AD LDS instances on multiple servers provides greater load balancing and fault tolerance by distributing application data across servers. A replica of an existing AD LDS instance contains replicated copies of the configuration and schema directory partitions (including any schema extensions). You can specify a running AD LDS instance as the source from which to replicate, or you can use a restored copy of a previously backed up AD LDS instance as the data source.
