Semantic model generation relies on the number of unique instances of values within each attribute and cardinality information contained within the database. This information is used to generate specific settings within the model. Gathering this information does not affect database statistics. It is recommended that you update model statistics only if the data source view has been modified or the data in the data source has changed significantly since the last time you generated model statistics.
