IP Address Inventory is a logical group defined by the device type field of IP addresses. Logical groups enable you to uniquely customize the way your address space is displayed for managing and tracking of IP address usage. Logical groups are defined by selecting the grouping criteria from built-in or user-defined fields. IPAM also supports a multi-level hierarchy when defining logical groups. IP addresses are assigned to a particular group based on the value of the custom field assigned to that IP address. Only the IP address view is available under IP Address Inventory. You can create new custom fields and values, as well as assign desired custom configurations to IP addresses. IPAM also allows certain built-in IP address properties to be customized using the custom field mapper such as managed by service, service instance, device type and address state.
