"Specifies the Registration Refresh Interval of A and PTR resource records for computers to which this setting is applied. This setting may be applied to computers using dynamic update only.

Computers running Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional, and configured to perform dynamic DNS registration of A and PTR resource records, periodically reregister their records with DNS servers, even if their records' data has not changed. This reregistration is required to indicate to DNS servers configured to automatically remove (scavenge) stale records that these records are current and should be preserved in the database.

Warning: If the DNS resource records are registered in zones with scavenging enabled, the value of this setting should never be longer than the Refresh Interval configured for these zones. Setting the Registration Refresh Interval to longer than the Refresh Interval of the DNS zones might result in the undesired deletion of A and PTR resource records.

To specify the Registration Refresh Interval, click Enable, and then enter a value larger than 1800. Remember, this value specifies the Registration Refresh Interval in seconds, for example, 1800 seconds is 30 minutes.

If this setting is not configured, it is not applied to any computers, and computers use their local configuration."
