"Determines whether local a DNS client should attach DNS suffixes to a multi-label, non-dot-terminated name prior to submission of a DNS query for that name. A multi-label, non-dot-terminated name contains at least one dot, but not as its first or last character, for example, "www.microsoft.com". With this setting enabled, when a user submits a query for a multi-label, non-dot-terminated name, such as "www.microsoft.com", a local DNS client attempts to resolve the name as is, that is, as "www.microsoft.com." or "www.hr". If such name resolution fails, then DNS client attaches a suffix, such as "microsoft.com" or "example.net", resulting in the query "www.microsoft.com.microsoft.com." or "www.hr.example.net", and sends the query to a DNS server. With this setting disabled, when a user submits a query for a multi-label, non-dot-terminated name, such as "www.microsoft.com" or "www.hr", a local DNS client attempts to resolve the name only as is, that is, as "www.microsoft.com." or "www.hr". Regardless of the query result, the DNS client does not attempt to attach any DNS suffix to the specified name, and it resolves the query for the concatenated name. If this setting is not configured, it is not applied to any computers, and computers use their local configuration."
