LLMNR name resolution is used to resolve a single-label, unqualified name. It is attempted only if DNS name resolution failed to provide an answer. LLMNR also support a single-label name appended with ".local". For example both hostname and hostname.local are attempted using LLMNR. If LLMNR fails to resolve a name then NetBT is attempted next.
