This policy setting specifies whether updates and applications are installed automatically or the user is prompted before updates and applications are installed. Additionally, this setting lets you schedule the installation of updates and applications.
 
"Install updates and applications automatically as scheduled" starts the automated installation of updates and applications at the scheduled day and time.
As a dependent policy, "Use Automatic Maintenance for Windows computers" setting instructs Microsoft Intune to run all installations and updates on Windows computers as part of the Windows Automatic Maintenance feature. When selected, updates and applications will install during the Windows Automatic Maintenance window.
 
"Prompt user for installation" prompts the user to install updates and applications when updates and applications are ready. Updates and applications are installed only if the user confirms that they should be installed.
