The Syslog task is used to write a message to a Syslog on a local or remote computer. Syslog is a Unix system resource that was designed to be the Unix system logging facility (in a way, similar in purpose to the logging facility provided by the Event Log in Windows). Using standard protocols, messages can be logged to a remote Syslog over a network and to mixed vendor systems. Although designed for Unix, a Syslog can also be used on Windows systems (e.g. by installing a Syslog daemon).
