Clusters provide high availability for applications and services installed on clustered servers. High availability means that if a server fails while hosting an application or a service, another server in the cluster takes over, which minimizes service interruptions. Regardless of which server currently hosts an application or service, clients always access the application or service using a highly available server name. New LUNs assigned to clusters must be associated with a highly available server through which they will be available.
