Tables Data Generation Options screen

Configuration tab

You can view columns of tables used by tested objects. To configure a data generator, you must select only columns with similar type family (NUMBER, VARCHAR2 or DATE) at one time.

Table configuration panel

This configuration is possible if Use existing table data is not checked.
Click the table name to make configure the table. After you expand the node, you will see the list of columns of this table. Check the box next to the column name to configure the column. You can check multiple columns, but their types should belong to the same family if you want to make identical configuration for them.
Desired number of rows - This is number of rows that will be generated for the current table. Default number is 10.
Constraints - List of constraints that will be honored when creating column values. You can view PRIMARY KEY, FOREIGN KEY and UNIQUE constraints in this list. You can check and uncheck the lines to enable and disable constraints.
Show unsupported constraints - Add unsupported constraints to the Constraints list. Currently SSMA Tester does not support CHECK constraints.

Selected columns

Full list of checked columns and their attributes. By default, all columns take part in data generation.

Selected columns attributes:

Name - Name of the table column
Data type - NUMBER, VARCHAR2 or DATE type families are currently supported.
Generator type - This is the type of generator selected for the column. You may change this generator and/or its parameters.
Length, Precision, Scale, Nullable?, Identity? are properties of the column. 'Sequence' is the name of sequence, which is emulated by the IDENTITY column.
Comparable? - If checked, the values in source and target databases are compared during test execution. There can be situations when such comparison is not applicable, for example, if the column contains a timestamp value.
Comparison scale - This attribute applies to NUMBER columns and denotes the precision which the Tester uses to make the comparison.

Configure generator

This panel can hold different components, depending on the type family currently selected. If the chosen columns have incompatible type families (like NUMBER and VARCHAR2), this panel is inaccessible. Each type of data generator contains sample list components, where you can preview values that the Tester would generate if the current parameters were applied.

Use existing table data

If checked, no data will be generated and existing information will remain intact. This is useful if you already have testing data inside your Oracle database. You cannot configure data generators as long as this option is checked.

Data tab

You can view the test data generated for each table. This tab is populated only after the test case has been executed or the Generate button has been clicked.
Note that it is possible to edit generated data inside this control. At this step of the SSMA Tester Wizard, the data is not populated to the table yet. It will be loaded to the tables during test case Execution step.

Generate

Display values that will be used to populate the tables according to the current Configuration settings. The name of this button changes to 'Regenerate' if you have run generation from this Wizard in the current test case before.

Save

Saves current test case. If you are creating a new test case, the Tester will ask you for the name, under which to store it. If the anonymous project has not been saved yet, SSMA will also ask for a new project name. A previously saved test case can be viewed later in Test Console after closing SSMA application. If you fail to save current test case, all of your wizard settings will be lost.|
