Microsoft Active Protection Service will send basic information about the software it detects to Microsoft. This includes where the software originated, actions that the user applies or the program applies automatically, and whether the actions were successful. On Windows 10 and above, the behavior is the same as advanced membership. In some instances personal information might unintentionally be sent to Microsoft. However, Microsoft will not use this information to identify the use or to contact the individual. Microsoft Active Protection Service will not alert the user if it detects a change made by software that has not yet been analyzed for risks.
