Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) helps you use single sign-on (SSO) to authenticate users to multiple, related Web applications over the life of a single online session. AD FS accomplishes this by securely sharing digital identity and entitlement rights across security and enterprise boundaries.

You can use this Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to configure the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for the Federation Service and to configure how clients authenticate from outside your intranet.

For more information about AD FS and the Federation Service Proxy (FSP) component, see AD FS Help.
