Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) helps you use single sign-on (SSO) to authenticate users to multiple, related Web applications over the life of a single online session. AD FS accomplishes this by securely sharing digital identity and entitlement rights across security and enterprise boundaries. You can use this Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to define and configure trust policy and claim mappings that are associated with this Federation Service. Each part of the console tree (in the left pane) has context menu options that you can use to modify the Federation Service and trust policy. For more information about AD FS and the Federation Service component, see AD FS Help.
