Clients access content streams from your server by connecting to a publishing point. Windows Media Services includes two types of publishing points: on-demand and broadcast. In general, you use an on-demand publishing point if you want clients to control playback and a broadcast publishing point if you want to control playback on the server. Either type can be configured to deliver a stream from one of several types of sources, such as a live stream from an encoder, a file, or a playlist. You can configure your streaming media server to run multiple publishing points, hosting a combination of broadcast and on-demand content.
